Conceived by George Vanderbilt as a planned "English Country" style community that would complement his stunning Biltmore Estate and house estate workers, Biltmore Village was constructed in the late 1890's and features historic buildings, beautiful architecture, unique shops, restaurants and galleries.

The village included a church, a hospital, a school, shops, and a railroad depot. Most of the buildings in the village were designed by Vanderbilt's architect, Richard Morris Hunt, and survive today as a living testament to the graceful architectural aesthetic of Vanderbilt's original vision. www.biltmorevillage.com

Many of Biltmore Village's original buildings remain in use today and serve as visitor attractions, including All Souls Cathedral, the Biltmore Historic Museum, and the majestic Biltmore Estate house and gardens.

Biltmore Estate -

The historic Biltmore House is a French, chateau style mansion and was once home to George Vanderbilt and his family. Constructed between 1889 and 1895, the Biltmore Estate is the largest private home in the U.S., and features 250 rooms, rare furnishings and artwork, and stunning gardens. Still owned by the Vanderbilt family, today the Biltmore Estate is a popular attraction, offering visitors a look at aristocratic life during the Gilded Age. Open daily, 9am-4:30pm. www.biltmore.com

Biltmore Village Historic Museum -

This free museum documents and preserves Biltmore Village history from the late 1800s to the present through exhibits including photographs, maps, antique post cards, original Biltmore Village cottage plans, and vintage artifacts. All Souls Cathedral -

Constructed in 1896, All Souls Cathedral served as the parish church for Biltmore Village. All Souls features Norman style architecture inspired by abbey churches in Northern England, leaded and stained glass windows, a chancel organ, and a set Westminster Peal Bells. The church has been in constant operation for more than 100 years and offers a full schedule of worship services, choir performances and church related events. www.allsoulscathedral.org
